Milepost 28 - Freedom Road Bridge Replacement

Project Overview

Project Summary: This project involves the complete replacement of the PennDOT Bridge WB-308 located at milepost 28 on the PA Turnpike. This bridge carries Freedom Road (State Route 3020) over the Turnpike in Cranberry Township, Butler County.

Design Start: Fall 2014

Construction Start: February 2019

Anticipated Completion: July 2021

The goal of this project is to completely replace and widen the bridge to add travel lanes to accommodate the high traffic volumes on Freedom Road.

The new structure will also be lengthened to accommodate the Turnpike’s template for the future reconstruction of the Turnpike which includes an additional travel lane in each direction.

This design and construction of this project is being administered by PennDOT District 10-0 with the participation of the PA Turnpike Commission.
