Public Plans Display - Northern Section
On Tuesday, October 18, 2011, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission held an open house plans display for the northern section of the Northeastern Extension Total Reconstruction and Widening project. The purpose of the plans display was to convey the proposed final engineering design plans developed for only the northern section of project, located between the Berks Road and the Lansdale Interchange in Worcester, Upper Gwynedd, and Towamencin Townships. The plans reflected a design with significantly reduced impacts to private properties due to collaborative efforts between local legislators, township officials, property owners, and the Turnpike since the last plans display in spring 2007.
The plans display was held at the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company, Station A, in Kulpsville. Information available at the plans display included a project schedule update, the proposed final engineering design plans for the northern section of the project corridor, typical roadway cross-sections, traffic noise analysis, bridge replacement projects detour plan, incident and traffic management, right-of-way, and a public outreach and comment area. Over 200 individuals attended the meeting.
