PA Turnpike / I-95 Interchange Project

Bensalem Boulevard Bridge

Project Description

In order to provide for future travel lanes associated with the I-95 Interchange Project, the existing Bensalem Boulevard Bridge over I-276 (MP 355.08) in Bucks County has been replaced. The existing supports (abutments) have been moved further apart to provide additional room for the new travel lanes.

The new bridge has been built in the same location as the existing bridge thus requiring the removal of the existing bridge to enable construction of the new bridge. The new bridge is longer and includes two 12-foot wide travel lanes and two 8-foot shoulders. The new structure has 2 spans with a new support pier in the I-276 median.

Traffic was detoured from Bensalem Boulevard during the demolition of the existing bridge and construction of the new structure, using New Falls Road, Newportville Road, Main Street and Hulmeville Road.

Project Schedule

The detour started in early March 2015 and the project detour was removed November 20, 2015. Map of the detour route
